Fueled by Crucible
For a little over two decades, the Keswick and Charlottesville area has been graced by the presence of post-impressionist inspired artist Anna Hillard Bryant. Since our opening, Anna and her family have been present in meaningful ways, supporting the work we put into our craft as well as the people who gather here because of it.
Anna received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting at James Madison University, and further continued her studies with the America Institute in Vienna, Austria, the Neilson Carlson Academy in Philadelphia, and the National Gallery of Art in London. At the conclusion of her expansive studies in painting, Anna spent time working at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond. Currently, Anna showcases her oil paintings in private and public collections across four continents, including our café in Staunton.
Deeply inspired by post-impressionists, Cézzane, Van Gogh, Bonnard and Vuillard - Anna captures the beauty from everyday life of land, city, and sea as well as intimate stories from still life studies. Her current work of a multi canvas panoramic scenic view is inspired by a recent family trip on Skyline Drive in which she admired the scattered plots of farmland throughout the Shenandoah Valley.
Aside from painting in her home studio, Anna continues to share her love of art in her community through teaching and offering lessons to students of all ages. At Crucible, we too have been graced with the recurrent presence of her paintings and are pleased to have her as a Creative Fueled by Crucible.
As Ever,
